Along the sea — Seafront stretch of the parade
It feels only fitting to lead the parade onto the seafront and celebrate where the land meets the sea for our burning and finale. And to accommodate the almost 20,000 people who come to watch every year!
I am thrilled to have been asked to create a lantern to celebrate our Burning of the Clocks parade in a different way this year.
My lantern design is a homage to the elegant design of Brighton’s heritage lanterns and the seafront space that they inhabit which has been enjoyed by so many generations. We are so lucky in Brighton to have the open expanse of sea accessible to us. I hope my lantern can act as a reminder of the beauty of a seafront walk and the value of the rich history Brighton’s seafront has and how we need to ensure we conserve that beauty and it’s visual history for the future.
