Mr Harper’s Birthday Party

10pm – 3pm

Bring a picnic and come along to the Victorian extravaganza as we celebrate the birthday of Mr George Harper, the man who gifted the magnificent Hubert Fountain to Victoria Park. With music, dance, good food, street performers and our traditional birthday cake race – there’s fun for all the family!

Mr Harper’s Birthday Party will once again return to Ashford’s Victoria Park, the day after Create Festival, once again for free! Expect music, food, street theatre, comedy walkabouts and our traditional birthday cake races. All part of this years Create Platform.

Whats On

Arbor the Tree
Smoking Apples present Arbor the Tree. Follow Arbor as he strides around, vanishing between trees and emerging with his cart full of tree saplings. Arbor tells the story of a tree pushed from his home and his fight to preserve his future, featuring amazing puppets, and beautiful visual storytelling, we learn how Arbor came to be.

Interactive workshops
SameSky return to Create with their iconic puppets, entertainment walkabouts, and arts and crafts workshops for all the family. This year SameSky has worked with five local schools in the build up to Create, with some work on display.

Street Art
Animate Arts worked alongside six local schools, where artists and pupils have collected single-use plastic to fill their letter, and learnt how to transform plastic bottles into beautiful plants, which are displayed on their letters.

Music Performance
Oysland are a Klezmer band who embody the new generation of Yiddish roots music. Serving an exuberant and soulful cocktail of wedding tunes and lamenting lullabies.

Swooping with panache through centuries of forgotten music, Oysland preserve all the original heartfelt melodies, foot-stomping beats and echoes of a bygone era.
