Burning the Clocks is Brighton’s unique winter solstice celebration. Each year, we bring the community together to create handmade lanterns, parade through the city, and culminate with a spectacular bonfire and fireworks display on the beach. It’s a night to celebrate creativity, togetherness, and the turning of the year.
The parade begins around 6pm and finishes at the Kemptown beach around 7.30pm. Fireworks and effigy burning finish around 8 to 8.30pm If viewing the parade, please dress warm, bring a snack, and bring along any cash you’d like to drop in the bucket to support the event.

Lantern packs are sold out! Thank you all to those who purchased a lantern pack.
Yes! This year’s poster, designed by the incredible Graham Carter, celebrates the Voyager theme with his signature artistic style. Posters are available in A2 and A3 sizes and can be purchased on our website. Quantities are limited, so get yours early!
Burning the Clocks relies on community support to happen. Our Crowdfunder helps cover event costs and ensures it remains accessible to everyone. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a huge difference.
Volunteers are the heart of Burning the Clocks! We need helpers for everything from lantern distribution to event logistics and stewarding during the parade.
